This blog gives a look into the eternal sunshine of my ever roving mind. I consider myself a social critic. I believe in Film, Music, Theatre, Musical Theatre, Gay Rights, the Right to Choose, Human Rights and YES I still believe in Barack Obama. I believe in most things left of center. I don't get any organized religion. They are all a sham. This is the gay pride flag. I am proudly gay. These are the things this blog is about. Love it, like it or leave it. We all have choices.

'The Last Station' *stars
'the last station' or 'the history of histrionics as offered by 'watch me over emote' helen mirren'.
as the countess sophia who all but kicks her husband leo tolstoy in his nuts ms. mirren proves she is the most overrated british actress of her time. she is such a 'phony' actress. it's all kind of ''watch me act. am i not wonderful? i'm going to scream and shout now. am i not a brilliant actress?". no ms. mirren you are not brilliant. you are damn annoying is what you are.
those who follow this blog know that my love and admiration for british actresses are bountiful and always has been. julie, judy, maggie, keira, deborah and kate are always at the top of all my lists. but mirren my god stop already. you are maddening.
christopher plummer what can i say? you gave an admirable performance considering the scene chewing ham you were playing against. she actually recieved an oscar nomination for this. makes one wonder.
the film itself is a waste of 1:53 hours. the one star is for the location shots, james mcavoy and the cinematography. i am being kind much to kind.
oh well...my suggestion is do not buy, do not rent...pass it by.

The Worst in Film 2000-2009
The worst are those that aspire to and pretend to be the best. the decade had a lot of bad films and a lot of good and great films. The following are the good, the bad and the downright ugly films 2000-2009.
The #1 spot goes to 'Rachel Getting Married' and most everything else where Anne Hathaway's name appeared above the title*
and the other 9 in no particular order are:
All the King's Men-Kate and Sean's HUGE mistake.
Australia-could possibly sink the entire continent.
Gladiator-it's the 21st century for god's sake.
No Country for Old Men-no film for sane men and women young or old.
Passion of the Christ- mel gibson's bloody violent and anti-semetic rant. oy vay!
Sideways-sideways, upside down or right side up a mess,a bore about male menopause
The Departed-retreading scorcese and big bad boston irish cops yet again.yawn!
The Edge of Love-Keira's mistake
The Ugly Truth-the truth is in the title: uglyuglyugly
Worst performance by actor, actress, canine, feline or what have you goes to you guessed it:
*(the exception being 'The Devil Wears Prada' because Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt dwarfed her at best mediocre performance)

'Edge of Love': D+
i finally got to see this one on video. now i know why this art theatre film did not get much of a theatrical release. it's a tough movie.
a drunken self centered dylan thomas does not actually scream entertainment.
the screenplay if factual was tough material.
the only redeeming qualities were the performances of keira knightly and cillian murphy as the lover's who had to deal with the f. scott/zelda insanity of yet another author (thomas) and his whacked out wife caitlin both overacted and underwhelming played by sienna miller and mathew rhys.
so now i have my first pick for one of the worse films of 2009.
forget this one as film history undoubtedly will.
