'Love Never Dies' on DVD and Bluray

what a mess. garbage. andrew lloyd webber' sequel to 'phantom of the opera' bombed in london and failed to make it to broadway. for some odd reason it was decided to film the stage version from the australia company. it boggles the mind. it is just plain awful and an embarrassment. i love, unashamedly, love musicals. not this one. forget about it.
rent or by the helluva lot better original 'phantom of the opera' film. it was under rated and wrongly maligned.

Idiot of the Week

i copied this from a fellow blogger 'bill in exile'. i could not have said it any better.

“I believe that if you understood who I truly am in my heart, and if it were possible to fully communicate what I believe is in the real, enduring best interest of African American families, you would vote for me for president.”

Mitt Romney addressing the NAACP just moments ago this morning.

WOW! Just f***ing WOW!

Sooooo lemme see if I’ve got this right — a white guy who grew up the son of wealth and privilege, who was once a bishop of the Mormon church {a church that excluded blacks until the late 70s} who is currently estimated to be worth more than a quarter billion dollars — most of which is kept in secret Swiss or Cayman Island bank accounts, and whose father was the governor of Michigan and a presidential candidate – knows what the average African-American family needs and what’s in their best interest.

This guy either has brass balls the size of Texas or he’s the stupidest motherf-er on the face of the Earth.

Given is past performances over the years — I vote for the latter.

The Amazing Spiderman' ***1/2stars

'the amazing spiderman' actually amazes. the 3d is great. the action is almost nonstop. the cast works, but it is andrew garfield as peter parker who along with the special effects makes the admission price more than worth it. he is a charmer to be sure. he was the best thing about 'the social network' and fulfilled the promise in 'never let me go'. he may be the best of his generation right now. he is so damn charismatic! emma stone was 'good' as gwen stacey but seems a bit 'old' for garfield. whereas mr. garfield did not make me miss tobey maquire the although lovely and talented ms stone made me long for kirsten dunst. andrew and kirsten would have worked better and fit better together. but that is a minor gripe.

sally field and martin sheen were the perfect aunt may and uncle ben.
denis leary and rhys ifans supported the whole well.

the story takes us back to the moments peter parker found out hoe he became spidey and why he did' it's a good ride. get the popcorn and soda and enjoy. it even calls for a return visit. see it in 3d. it works for this movie.

The Beginning of the End

'the closer' begins it's final season tonight. only six episodes to go. and then brenda lee johnson will say goodbye. i will miss her. the wonderful kyra sedgwick created one of tv's best characters. quirks and all. but i thank her for six great seasons in the major crimes unit. kyra and her alter-ego will be sorely missed.

but alas when the final episode finishes we will go right into 'major crimes' starring mary mcdonnell as the probably, possibly, quirkier captain sharon raydor and most of 'the closer' cast with additions. i want this to work. ms. mcdonnell's work and character on 'the closer' grew on me. i hope this 'sequel' succeeds.

Natalie Wood's Cause Of Death Changed From 'Accident' To 'Undetermined'

Actress Natalie Wood's cause of death, formerly ruled as accidental drowning, has been formally changed to "undetermined."

The 43-year-old was found drowned in 1981, after a night of yachting off the Californian coast with her husband, Robert Wagner, and actor Christopher Walken. The Los Angeles Coroner's office ruled her death as accidental. The coroner's report noted that a night of heavy drinking could have caused her to slip and fall, according to MSNBC.

In November 2011, however, the case was reopened after Dennis Davern, the yacht's captain, came forward with new information about the incident. Davern said he believes that Wagner was responsible for Wood's death.

According to Davern, Wagner and Wood had been involved in an intense argument earlier that night, CBS reports. When Wood went missing, Davern claims, Wagner asked him not to look for her.

As of January 2012, the investigation had still found no new evidence to indicate Wood's death was a murder.

Now, however, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is changing their tune. Some of the bruises found on Wood's body, detectives told TMZ, have been determined to be inconsistent with death by drowning.

The detectives noted that they still believe drowning to be the ultimate cause of Wood's death. However, the suspicious bruises were one factor that led the L.A. County Coroner to change the cause of death on Wood's death certificate from "accident" to "undetermined."*

this comes as know surprise to me. i have thought for years that mr wagner was complicent in natalie's death. every time this case reopens i pray justice will be done. maybe then the lovely ms wood will be able to rest in peace.

New BluRay Releases

i missed posting these two 7/3 releases. 'barbarella' is fun and 'under the tuscan sun' merely has a certain charm, mostly because of diane lane, but not much else.

both are available from amazon. just click on the banner on right sidebar

Josh's Juke Box: Donna Summer

i ignored ms summer's passing earlier this year because she turned on the gay community after WE made her a success. in retrospect however i can't deny the voice, the music or the presentation. so here we go with two of my favorite summer's songs.
