the best network show came back from it's brief vacation full force. and michael j fox was once again along for the ride. the lovely susan misner played his wife and hopefully will make a return visit. julianna and josh and company were all in great form. the writing is always consistent and more.
This blog gives a look into the eternal sunshine of my ever roving mind. I consider myself a social critic. I believe in Film, Music, Theatre, Musical Theatre, Gay Rights, the Right to Choose, Human Rights and YES I still believe in Barack Obama. I believe in most things left of center. I don't get any organized religion. They are all a sham. This is the gay pride flag. I am proudly gay. These are the things this blog is about. Love it, like it or leave it. We all have choices.

Best of TV 2010
the best new series last year is the best series this year. julianna margulies and an all around brilliant cast continue to grow and amaze. great acting and great writing keep it fresh each week. it's brilliant period
.................................
and the rest
another sophomore show gets better each week. the most sensual series on tv. this really leaves 'true blood' in the dust
i was really pissed when they dropped a j cook from the cast. i threatened to boycott. i couldn't. this show gets better and better with each passing year
sam, dean, devils, angel, demons and homo erotica. 'nuf said
brenda lee johnson and company are sadly leaving us after the spring season. kyra has decided to move on while on top. a show i will surely miss
nathon fillion and stana katic are the hottest and wittiest couple on tv. a damn good supporting cast doesn't hurt
adult drama at it's best
like a fine wine it ages well
will someone give mary mccormack an emmy shot. this series never falters. neither does mary
brooke elliot makes it shine. while we are at it give her an emmy too
a slight diversion from the maddening world we live in
it's been an uneven sophomore year but succeeds more than it falters. giving the supporting cast more to do this year was a saving grace. enough of lea michele already
my favorite guilty pleasures
i still love the advenures and misadventures of sabrina, blair, nate, dan and chuck. get rid of jenny and vanessa please!
my newest guilty pleasure. these girls are wickedly delightful. and they are more so much more than little liars.
the show also brings holly marie-combs back to tv. that's an added plus
best of the new
bestest of the new
best special goes to hbo's one woman show starring carrie fisher. carrie and her 'hollywood 101' is pure entertainment

Kyra Closing Shop
kyra sedgwick has decided to make the next season the final season of 'the closer'. after 7 seasons i'm really going to hate saying goodbye to brenda lee johnson. i suppose kyra's decision is too have the hit tnt series go out while it's still on top of it's game. all the same i'm going to miss one of the best ensmble casts on tv.

Happy Birthday Annette
annette's been out of the public eye for some time now as she battles ms. annette single handedly is credited with putting a certain generation of pre pubescent boys on the road to early manhood. if you have to ask it's best you don't.
we wish her well on her birthday.
annette recorded a few albums in her teens and released a few singles from them. here are a few of the mostly known.
annette became the most popular of the original mouseketeers so disney decided to write a 'serialized' segment simply titled 'annette'. the following song was introduced and charted on billboard within weeks of the serialized airing.
how will i know my love'
'tall paul'
'first name initial'
annette became a disney favorite and was given a guest shot role on the then prime time series 'zorro'
naturally by that point they wrote a song for her character called 'lonely guitar'

'Spartacus' Star Bows Out Due to Cancer Recurrence
for andy personally the following is sad news. for us not quite as sad but it's a shame that one of the most innovative series of the past season is now gone. but most importantly we wish mr. whitfield well and much luck in his battle with cancer.
'Spartacus: Blood and Sand star Andy Whitfield is bowing out of the second season of the hit Starz show because his cancer, non-Hodgkin lymphoma, has returned and requires aggressive treatment. "It's with a deep sense of disappointment that I must step aside from such an exceptional project as Spartacus and all the wonderful people involved," Whitfield, 36, said in a statement. "It seems that it is time for myself and my family to embark on another extraordinary journey. Thank you sincerely for the support so far." The future of the series -- season 2 had tentatively been set to air next September -- is uncertain. Starz still plans to premiere the series' prequel, Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, this January.'

'Royal Pains' Slips Down to a B
i had given 'royal pains' an A a few blogs ago. but they have added a new character, dr. emily peck, portrayed by a god-awful actress named anastasia griffith. her acting and her story line are bringing down this show. her acting barely worked on 'damages' but is anne hathaway worthy here. get her the hell out of the hamptons now!

Remembering Gracie on Her Birthday: I Love Gracie
most people loved lucy. not me...i liked lucy but i LOVED gracie. her character on the 'burns and allen' show was the best. a woman who took the english language literally. gracie played the role with a brilliantly daffy wink of an eye.
why the hell is this show not on dvd? only gracie could pull the wool over so many eyes and fluster grown men over a cup of coffee with carnation milk. and that closet filled with hats. simply the best!
a look at the brilliance of gracie allen

Thoughts on the Emmy Noms: The Good, the Ignored and the Boring Already*
the good:
'glee' and 'nurse jackie' in the comedy category
'the good wife' and 'true blood' for drama series
michael morrison, edie falco , lea michelle, and jim parsons for comedy lead role
jane lynch, chris colfer, julie bowen, in supporting comedy roles
christine baranski, archie panjabi for drama supporting roles
'real time with bill maher' for variety, music or comedy series
kyra sedgwick, julianna margulies, mariska hargitay for dramatic actress
and
betty white for hosting saturday night live
the boring already:
tony shalhoup, tina fey, alec baldwin, 30 rock, the office, jon cryer and glenn close.glenn close? the woman must be a full service contender.
the ignored:
jane elliot, mary mccormack, nathan fallion, stana katic, 'in plain sight', 'army wives', 'vampire diaries', 'royal pains', 'drop dead diva' and almost every main character in 'true blood', 'the tudors', jonathan rhys meyers, 'lie to me' 'spartacus' and 'castle' for starters.
amazing how every year presents us with the same old same old with a handful of newbies.
