Marion

after posting yesterday i wanted to give you more of marion cotillard through some interviews. the chance to learn more about her, her acting and her take on acting. i unashamedly admit she is my favorite actress today. kate winslet and julie christie remain at the top of my list, a tie for second place, but neither has done the work that marion has in the past few years.

'Pretty Little Liars' Season Finale Tonight

already? damn. but have no fear it will be back in june for season 3. i will say it now: troian bellisario deserves an emmy nomination this year. her performance has been nothing but remarkable. all the 'liars' are good actors but troian has been given the best material this season. i admit i am crazy about her. and i still love this guilty pleasure show that does not get it's due.
 season 2 gets an A.
the balls are still in the air and the dishes are still spinning. it is still the best guilty pleasure on tv.

'Rust and Bone' Releases on Bluray and DVD Today ***1/2stars

marion cotillard's brilliant, yes brilliant as in absolutely brilliant performance, gets it's bluray and dvd releases today. it was a success on the 'art house' scene last year and got some play in a simplified wider release. ms cotillard received critical acclaim, won a few awards, was nominated for many but was ultimately snubbed by oscar. she was in good company. remember ben affleck anyone?

this film is intense and often diddicult to watch. it is one of the best of 2012. yes it is in french thus subtitled. don't be lazy: read. be smart rent this movie.

did i mention it has a brilliant performance by marion cotillard? i love this actress as an actress and it doesn't hurt that i believe she is currently the most beautiful woman on screen today.

'Bates Motel Tonight on A&E

i like vera farmiga and think she is a fine actress. i was surprised to read she signed on to this series but will give it a try if only for her. i also thought freddie highmore showed potential in 'finding neverland' so the dvr will be set.

'The Lying Game' Season 2 Rates an A

season 2 of 'the lying game' ended it's second season part 1 with a bunch of surprises. a major character's demise, we think, was a shocker. there were twists and turns all season and the finale keeps us wanting, begging, for more. the cast has soooo much talent. there is not a missing link among them. allie gonino, blair redford, helen slater, tyler christopher, charisma carpenter, adrian pasdar and alice greczyn shine above the rest. but that is quibbling. but it is alexandra chando who truly shines as emma/sutton who have played a dangerous lying game and brought the rest of the cast into their web of lies. i know season 2 part 2 has been filled but oddly left off abcfamily's summer roster.

i can only hope it will be back soon. it is the perfect companion piece following 'pretty little liars' on tuesday nights.

'smash' is having a less than stellar sophmore season that may well be it's last season. the fact that nbc has just moved the remaining episodes of the season to saturday night really has sounded the death rattle for this once promising series. as a musical officiando and lover this great idea has hit rock bottom and deserves cancellation. it's a damn shame. why did it go wrong? that may be one of the big questions of the past tv seasons. well bad writing, incoherent subplots and some really bad musical choices are a few of the reasons. there was good talent wasted. that's a shame. all and all 'smash' is, was, a shame and damn it that's the shame.
season 2 rates a C and i am being kind
this billy joel cover has been one of very few highlights this season.
