Fall Films 2: December 12th: Doubt

From 'Mamma Mia' to 'Doubt' in the same year. This is truly an amazing feat. It shows how versatile Meryl Streep is...still!

Happy Birthday 8/31 Richard Gere

In one of my favorite 2002 films with Diane Lane, 'Unfaithful'.

With the brilliant Debra Winger in 'An Officer and a Gentleman'

Happy Birthday 8/30

Today would have been Oscar and Tony Winner, for 'Come Back Little Sheba' Shirley Booth's Birthday.
She also had a TV show 'Hazel' that had a well played run.

(I told you I'd take any excuse to blog Kate Winslet)

Just for Equal Time

Thank God He's Back Tonight on HBO

Rose and Jack Are Back December 26th.

But now 10 years later they are April and Frank Wheeler in 'Revolutionary Road'.

I LOVE Kate Winslet. She is truly the best actress of her generation. Actually along with Meryl Streep and Julie Christie she is one the greatest actresses on film today. Now two of them have won the Oscar and I pray this year brings one to Kate. She's been cheated long enough. And yes, I will use any excuse to blog her. I am unashamedly in love with Kate and her work.

Kate has only made four Hollywood type commercial movies, 'Titanic', 'Life of David Gale', 'All the King's Men' and 'The Holiday'. I suppose I need to add 'Flushed Away' to those four as she did voice a lead character. But it is in those smaller independent films that her brilliance is most evident. Each of her films will be highlighted eventually. Today though I give you a preview and a wondrous memory.

The biggest money maker of all time. It made Kate a STAR!!! I love this film and yes it too is one of my all time favorites.

Happy Birthday 8/29 Ingrid Bergman

Ingrid's birthday, in one of those simple twists of fate, is also the anniversary of her passing at the age of 67.

Although Ingrid won two Oscars she is best remembered for a role she did not win for. That is one of the greatest films of all time: 'Casablanca'.

Ingrid won the a Suporting Oscar for 'Murder on the Orient Express' which happens to be one of my all time favorite films.

Ingrid won her leading role Oscar for 'Anastasia'.
