Lip Synced? Well That's Talent

kelly clarkson won the talent contest for NOT lip syncing. i have always questioned beyonce's
true talent....yup she has a great pair of pipes but not much to back them up....she lost what appeared to be a brilliant moment out of fear or true lack of talent. i mean she could record in a studio to perfection but the real test is getting out there and doing it LIVE.

Text of poem "One Today" written and recited by Richard Blanco at the ceremonial swearing-in ceremony of President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, as provided by the Presidential Inaugural Committee:

One sun rose on us today, kindled over our shores,
peeking over the Smokies, greeting the faces
of the Great Lakes, spreading a simple truth
across the Great Plains, then charging across the Rockies.
One light, waking up rooftops, under each one, a story
told by our silent gestures moving behind windows.
My face, your face, millions of faces in morning's mirrors,
each one yawning to life, crescendoing into our day:
pencil-yellow school buses, the rhythm of traffic lights,
fruit stands: apples, limes, and oranges arrayed like rainbows
begging our praise. Silver trucks heavy with oil or paper -
bricks or milk, teeming over highways alongside us,
on our way to clean tables, read ledgers, or save lives-
to teach geometry, or ring-up groceries as my mother did
for twenty years, so I could write this poem.
All of us as vital as the one light we move through,
the same light on blackboards with lessons for the day:
equations to solve, history to question, or atoms imagined,
the "I have a dream" we keep dreaming,
or the impossible vocabulary of sorrow that won't explain
the empty desks of twenty children marked absent
today, and forever. Many prayers, but one light
breathing color into stained glass windows,
life into the faces of bronze statues, warmth
onto the steps of our museums and park benches
as mothers watch children slide into the day.
One ground. Our ground, rooting us to every stalk
of corn, every head of wheat sown by sweat
and hands, hands gleaning coal or planting windmills
in deserts and hilltops that keep us warm, hands
digging trenches, routing pipes and cables, hands
as worn as my father's cutting sugarcane
so my brother and I could have books and shoes.
The dust of farms and deserts, cities and plains
mingled by one wind - our breath. Breathe. Hear it
through the day's gorgeous din of honking cabs,
buses launching down avenues, the symphony
of footsteps, guitars, and screeching subways,
the unexpected song bird on your clothes line.
Hear: squeaky playground swings, trains whistling,
or whispers across café tables, Hear: the doors we open
for each other all day, saying: hello, shalom,
buon giorno, howdy, namaste, or buenos días
in the language my mother taught me - in every language
spoken into one wind carrying our lives
without prejudice, as these words break from my lips.
One sky: since the Appalachians and Sierras claimed
their majesty, and the Mississippi and Colorado worked
their way to the sea. Thank the work of our hands:
weaving steel into bridges, finishing one more report
for the boss on time, stitching another wound
or uniform, the first brush stroke on a portrait,
or the last floor on the Freedom Tower
jutting into a sky that yields to our resilience.
One sky, toward which we sometimes lift our eyes
tired from work: some days guessing at the weather
of our lives, some days giving thanks for a love
that loves you back, sometimes praising a mother
who knew how to give, or forgiving a father
who couldn't give what you wanted.
We head home: through the gloss of rain or weight
of snow, or the plum blush of dusk, but always - home,
always under one sky, our sky. And always one moon
like a silent drum tapping on every rooftop
and every window, of one country - all of us -
facing the stars
hope - a new constellation
waiting for us to map it,
waiting for us to name it - together

Audra on 'Private Practice' Series Finale Tonight

audra returns to the series to maid of honor for kate walsh. her next stop is to go head to head with juilianna margulies on 'the good wife'.

'Anna Karenina' ***1/2stars

director joe wright took a risk and it worked. realizing that it would be cost prohibitive to film on location in russia he utilized a stage setting as the film's premise and then flung the doors open. only to return again and yet again. it is a masterpiece of innovation. it is a cinegraphic wonder. dario marianelli's score soars.

keirna knightley shines as the adulteress anna. she is actually filmed quite beautifully which isn't really hard to do. jude law is at his best as her husband. aaron taylor-johnson is merely interesting as anna's lover vronsky. in fact he is the weak link in this production. alicia vikander shines as kitty. and in a small role michelle docker is lovely as princess myagkaya.

it seems to have disappeared from most theatrical screens but will be available next month on disc.

the ever lovely michelle docker

Breaking News: 'Drop Dead Diva' Cancelled'

it's a shame. lifetime tv claims it's for budgetary reasons. so cut the damn budget some. 'diva' and 'army wives' put the network on the map for prime time viewing. so i guess they bite the hand that feeds them. ridiculous!

Golden Globe Memories

bill clinton was the big surprise. tina fey and amy poehler were damn funny. 'argo' and ben affleck surprised many but not me. the academy now has egg on it's face re affleck. jodi foster came out? duh we knew this forever. jennifer laewrence, jessica chastain enjoy your wins. hugh and ann are not 'miserables' today. sorry sally i was with you. 'homeland' was a lock even though it's sophomore season was over bloated and often incomprehensible. i'm a 'downton' fanatic. and finally kristen wiig and will ferrell gave us some of the best laugh(s) of the night.

congrats to all. here comes OSCAR!

Golden Globes Tonight on CBS

what's dumb is that the competing networks are showing original programing of  'the good wife', 'revenge', 'once upon a time' and 'downton abbey'. there was a time when the networks would not compete with award shows. however, we now have dvr's and 'on demand' to play catch up.

i'm not making any guesses here although i do harbor hopes. don't we all? julianna margulies, mandy patinkin, ben affleck, 'argo', 'downton abbey', sally field and 'les miserables' are on my wish list.

'Lying Game' Season 2 Tonight

a guilty pleasure following 'pretty little liars'. a fun night on abc family.

Josh's Juke Box: Extraordinary'

the soundtrack of my life
lucy hale

i think lucy hale is an extraordinary talent. she is wonderful as aria on 'pretty little liars. she has a voice to match her acting abilities. it is time for someone in hollywod to finally film the musical 'she loves me' and cast her as amalia barish. then redo 'carousel'. she is the perfect julie jordon.

Josh's Juke Box: 'You're the One that I Want'

from the soundtrack of my mind

'glee' got it right and having the different (ex)couples share it was genius. when 'glee' does it right they do it very right and vice versa.
