This blog gives a look into the eternal sunshine of my ever roving mind.
I consider myself a social critic.
I believe in Film, Music, Theatre, Musical Theatre, Gay Rights, the Right to Choose, Human Rights and YES I still believe in Barack Obama.
I believe in most things left of center.
I don't get any organized religion. They are all a sham.
This is the gay pride flag. I am proudly gay.
These are the things this blog is about.
Love it, like it or leave it. We all have choices.
season 2 of 'the lying game' ended it's second season part 1 with a bunch of surprises. a major character's demise, we think, was a shocker. there were twists and turns all season and the finale keeps us wanting, begging, for more. the cast has soooo much talent. there is not a missing link among them. allie gonino, blair redford, helen slater, tyler christopher, charisma carpenter, adrian pasdar and alice greczyn shine above the rest. but that is quibbling. but it is alexandra chando who truly shines as emma/sutton who have played a dangerous lying game and brought the rest of the cast into their web of lies. i know season 2 part 2 has been filled but oddly left off abcfamily's summer roster.
i can only hope it will be back soon. it is the perfect companion piece following 'pretty little liars' on tuesday nights.
'smash' is having a less than stellar sophmore season that may well be it's last season. the fact that nbc has just moved the remaining episodes of the season to saturday night really has sounded the death rattle for this once promising series. as a musical officiando and lover this great idea has hit rock bottom and deserves cancellation. it's a damn shame. why did it go wrong? that may be one of the big questions of the past tv seasons. well bad writing, incoherent subplots and some really bad musical choices are a few of the reasons. there was good talent wasted. that's a shame. all and all 'smash' is, was, a shame and damn it that's the shame. season 2 rates a C and i am being kind this billy joel cover has been one of very few highlights this season.
francis 1! my first impression is he took the name of catholicism's most humble man...the friar from assissi. from argentina i hear he is a humble man. a man who's focus as priest and bishop has been for the poor and downtrodden. and wow that smile we saw today on that balcony. somehow and somewhere within me i see hope for the church i left years ago. i hope he can fix the broken vatican machine. fix the church of rome.although i disagree with him on contraception and gay marriage i wish him well.
two of tv's most beloved characters passed this week.
kim delaney is gone from 'army wives' as claudia joy holden. it's hard to imagine the series without her. she was the heart, soul and center of the show.
larry hagman's real life passing meant the passing of tv icon j r ewing. this brings up the decade old adage 'who shot j r?'
oscar winner 'life of pi' is possibly the most beautiful film i have ever seen. this****star ang lee directed film well deserved the oscar for best director insofar as ben affleck was not nominated. if you missed it in the theater rent it or buy it.
i have avoided writing anything about season 3 of 'downton abbey' so as not to spoil anything for anybody who did not know about the 2 deaths that occurred. my moratorium is up. the ever lovely jessica brown findlay opted to leave the show when her contract was up. that left the rest of us to deal with the death of lady sybil. good for her: lousy for us. i loved ms findlay in this series and will miss her character as well as the actress. i wish jessica all the luck in her career and hope to see here soon on the big and small screen.
a guilty pleasure for sure. the sophmore season of 'the client list' returns for it's sophmore season tonight. season 1 gets a B and we'll see where this goes.
here's my problem: most of the original cast is now gone. they are killing kim delaney off tonight. she was the center and the heart of this series. in my mind it's a whole new series and i'll give it a shot. the new characters have a lot to live up t0o. maybe the wonderful catherine bell can hold it together.
valerie harper will appear on the daytime 'the doctors' tomorrow to discuss her recently announced cancer. so i thought it is a good time to take a look back at happier times. 'rhoda's wedding' was classic. unfortunately the series went down hill after the marriage. but nontheless we all love rhoda. so here in full is the hilarious wedding in full.
jimmy kimmel's after oscar shows have always been fun. here is 'movie: the movie 2v' a sequel, sort of, to last years 'the movie'. it is a wonder to see the amount of talent he gets to do these mini movies. enjoy.
i loved valerie harper as rhoda morgenstern. i still laugh along with her especially on 'the mary tyler moore show'. my partner ed died of brain cancer in 2000. it is a hard, difficult and really miserable end. i hope valerie does not suffer as much as he did. this is so so sad. if you pray please pray for her. at the very least send good thoughts and feelings her way.
is it necessary, appropriate, classy, clever, smart etc etc to declass the classiest actress EVER by putting her into a choclate commercial 20 years after her untimely death? someone thinks so. perhaps her rather unclassy son sean ferrer needed some schkels. he does own the rights to her image. a few years ago it was for a gap commercial. and now i will show it to you anyway. audrey cgi'd. oy. the only difference really is that i am not making a buck off of her image.
